Description

This high-tensile head stud kit replaces factory bolts on 1997–2003 GM LS-series engines to provide superior clamping force and prevent head gasket failure. The kit includes heat-treated black oxide studs, 12-point nuts, and precision-ground washers for even load distribution across the cylinder head.

Instructions:

1. Clean the cylinder block threads thoroughly to remove any old sealant or debris before installation.
2. Thread the black studs into the block by hand until they are fully bottomed out; do not use a wrench to tighten the studs into the block.
3. Place the cylinder head over the studs and install the parallel-ground washers and 12-point nuts onto each stud.
4. Apply a high-quality assembly lubricant to the stud threads and the contact face of the nuts and washers.
5. Tighten the 12-point nuts in the manufacturer-recommended three-step sequence and torque pattern to ensure a proper gasket seal.

Precaution:

Never use an impact wrench for installation and ensure all threads are lubricated to achieve accurate torque readings.
